Kariya recounts his past, including escaping Soul Reapers, fusing with a doll against a hollow, and the Bounts' failed attempt to enter the Soul Society using the Quincy. He then organized the remaining Bounts to seek revenge on the Soul Society. In the present, Uryuu confronts Kariya. Rantao uses the Joukaishou to stun Kariya and urges Uryuu to kill him. However, Rantao suffers pain from the artifact, prompting Uryuu to use his remaining power to save her, which destroys his Quincy battle accessory. As Kariya prepares to kill both Uryuu and Rantao, Ichigo arrives to intervene in the conflict.
