Kenpachi defeats Tesla instantly and orders Ichigo to avoid his conflict with Nnoitra. He explains that Kisuke Urahara stabilized the garganta gateways for Soul Reaper captains, bringing three others. Captain Retsu Unohana and her lieutenant Isane Kotetsu intervene to save Yasutora Sado and Gantenbainne Mosqueda from Rudbornn Chelute and the Exequias. Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi arrives with lieutenant Nemu Kurotsuchi, remaining confident against Szayel Aporro despite the creation of a voodoo doll. Captain Byakuya Kuchiki saves Rukia Kuchiki from Espada Zommari Leroux, utilizing techniques taught by Yoruichi Shihouin to counter Zommari's enhanced speed. This event is part of the Arrancar vs. Shinigami arc.
