Zommari survives Byakuya's assault, but Byakuya employs kidou to neutralize Zommari's control powers and swiftly defeats him. Meanwhile, Mayuri appears overpowered by Szayel Aporro, whose voodoo doll ability destroys Mayuri's internal organs. Mayuri reveals he has replaced his organs with dummies, rendering the attack ineffective. This immunity was achieved by studying the ability through bacteria implanted in Uryuu to manipulate the voodoo doll. Mayuri then activates his Bankai, which poisons Szayel Aporro, and subsequently swallows him whole. This confrontation occurs during the Arrancar vs. Shinigami arc, specifically episode 9 of 14.
