Uryuu engages Yammy alone, deploying mines from Mayuri Kurotsuchi across the fifth tower to drop the Arrancar to the ground. Elsewhere, Rukia struggles against Rudbornn and the Exequias until Chad and Renji arrive to assist. Ichigo continues his battle with Ulquiorra, donning his Hollow mask to gain the upper hand. Ulquiorra breaks through the Las Noches canopy to release his Zanpakuto, Murciélago, revealing two rules: Grand Rey Cero is prohibited, and Espadas 1 to 4 cannot release their Zanpakuto. The release grants Ulquiorra large bat-like wings, significantly boosting his power and allowing him to nearly decapitate Ichigo with his first strike.
