Kazeshini confronts a cornered cleaver sword beast, but it reverts to sword form, confusing him. He, Zabimaru, Houzukimaru, and Ruri'iro Kujaku discover an unknown beast absorbing spiritual energy from others. This entity, Kirikaze, attacks lion, face, and ape sword beasts in the Rukongai streets. The zanpakutou engage Kirikaze without their owners but fail against his mist transformation. Their owners arrive, urging unity between Soul Reapers and zanpakutou. The spirits donate their remaining energy to Renji, enabling his bankai to defeat Kirikaze. Although the zanpakutou return to sword forms, the Soul Reapers sense their lingering presence. This concludes the Beast Swords arc.
