Ichigo struggles to counter Ulquiorra’s assaults, vowing not to surrender despite the Arrancar’s superior strength. Ulquiorra then transforms into his second release, a state he claims Aizen has never witnessed. Despite Ichigo’s attempts to defend himself and counterattack, Ulquiorra proves too fast and powerful. When Orihime and Uryuu finally reach the surface, they find Ichigo already defeated and captured. Ulquiorra informs Orihime that he will destroy her last hope by killing Ichigo. He then fires his Cero Oscuras, punching a hole through Ichigo’s chest and seemingly ending the fight. This event occurs during the Arrancar: Downfall arc, episode 5 of 39.
