After losing his Soul Reaper abilities to Inaba, Ichigo and his allies meet at the Urahara Shop to devise a rescue mission for Nozomi. Urahara proposes a dangerous strategy involving the Dangai, where Ichigo must be consumed by a Koutotsu to retrieve a sample of his former powers, leveraging his previous experience with the creature. The operation succeeds, and Ichigo emerges from the Koutotsu unharmed. Upon reuniting with his friends, he reveals that he saw another version of himself inside the creature. Urahara deduces that this encounter proves Ichigo saved himself during his initial consumption, as time does not pass within the Koutotsu. This event occurs during the Gotei 13 Invading Army arc, specifically episode 19 of 26.
