Ichigo struggles with fading powers and is advised by Rukia and Uryuu to stop fighting hollows, a directive from Ukitake. He spends the next day ice skating with friends and enjoys fireworks at night. A massive hollow appears as they return home. Rukia attempts to shield Ichigo, freezing the enemy's legs, while Ichigo uses his last Getsuga Tenshou to destroy it. Exhausted, Ichigo accepts his fate and the instruction to rest. He wakes surrounded by friends, noting his spirits are gone. As Rukia fades away, he says goodbye and thanks her for her friendship and protection before she fully disappears.
