Ichigo and Uryuu easily defeat a gang, but Ichigo is kidnapped by his boss, Ikumi Unagiya, and forced to work. The client, Kuugo Ginjou, whose bag was stolen, asks Ichigo to investigate his father, Isshin Kurosaki. Ichigo refuses but becomes interested when Ginjou mentions that his sister, Karin Kurosaki, visited Kisuke Urahara. Ginjou gives Ichigo a Xcution business card and cryptically warns him to act before his family is harmed. Meanwhile, Uryuu chases a strange man near Ichigo's house and is critically injured. This event is part of The Lost Substitute Shinigami arc, specifically episode 2 of 23.
