Uryuu employs the Quincy technique ransoutengai to counter the paralysis caused by Mayuri's zanpakutou. Although initially overpowered, he removes his sanrei glove to release his power limits, subsequently overwhelming Mayuri even after the latter activates his bankai. Mayuri evades defeat by transforming into a liquid form. Nemu provides Uryuu with an antidote for the bankai's poison, allowing him to proceed toward Rukia's cell while severely weakened. His journey is interrupted by the arrival of Soul Reaper captain Kaname Tousen, who confronts him directly. This sequence occurs within the Soul Society: The Rescue arc, specifically episode 3 of 22.
