Miri is nearly struck by a vehicle, triggering Kazuki’s traumatic memories. He finds a photo of his wife, Yuzuko, and feels unworthy of happiness. Stress from caring for Miri and Rei leads him to abandon them. Rei takes Miri to day-care alone in the rain, only to find it closed. Kazuki hides at Kyutaro’s bar, where Karin, his sister-in-law, returns his money. She reveals Yuzuko and their unborn child died in a car explosion caused by Kazuki chasing an assassin. Miri develops a fever, prompting Rei to seek Kyutaro’s help. At Yuzuko’s grave, Karin shares her plans to study in France and urges Kazuki to accept happiness. He returns home to find Miri recovering and Rei exhausted, resuming his routine while displaying Yuzuko’s photo.
