Candy meets Tony Charles, who claims to be a patient of the Internal Medical Department and challenges him to poker. Investigation reveals Tony may be a ghost of a boy who died a month ago or not a patient at all. When Dr. Robson joins Candy for their mutual night watch, Candy leaves Tony alone. Tony enters the apothecary to steal expensive heart medicine for his sick mother, risking danger with doses over half-gram. A security guard recognizes Candy’s cards and recalls Tony from his mother’s hospital stay. They locate Tony’s mother and pump her stomach. Dr. Robson plays poker with Tony, staking hospital and medicine bills, and ultimately loses the game.
