Ep. 84: Candy and Franny Volunteer for War Duty at Saint Joanna Hospital

Saint Joanna Hospital must send nurses to the front line, causing fear among staff. Candy cares for Marsha, a former nurse who lost her leg in the war and resents receiving care meant for soldiers. Merry Jane arrives to select one of her five students for service in France. Reflecting on Marsha’s battlefield memories and her own connections, Candy volunteers alongside Franny. Merry Jane chooses Franny, who appears more decisive. Candy feels guilty that Franny, who has parents, risks death while she, having none, stays safe. After a heart-to-heart, Candy learns Franny’s family is dysfunctional and would not mourn her death. Franny realizes Candy’s interference stems from genuine concern. Though too proud to call Candy a friend, Franny acknowledges Candy’s potential to become an excellent nurse.
