Ep. 79: Candy seeks Terry at Elmore Theatre after rejection, leading to a frantic search for her.

Candy reaches the Elmore Theatre late and is denied entry to the Ardley theatre box by great-aunt Elroy due to her previous decision to abdicate her adoption. She secures a seat in the unused upper-level but fails to meet Terry backstage or as he departs with Susanna. Although Terry briefly hears what he believes is Candy’s voice, he dismisses the possibility and leaves. Crushed by the rejection and Eliza’s gossip regarding Terry and Susanna, Candy wanders the streets alone. At the play’s reception, Terry encounters Eliza and learns that the Cornwell brother, Eliza, and Neil are in Chicago, reinforcing his suspicion that he heard Candy. When Susanna gives him a handkerchief with his initials, which Candy left behind in the upper booth, Terry recognizes it as a gift he gave her in London to treat a wound. Realizing the truth, he rushes to find Candy before he must depart the following morning.
