An awkward atmosphere exists between Honoka and Shin due to Honoka's automatic avoidance of him. Mao-chan is initially very confused by this dynamic. However, she soon becomes determined to get her parents to reconcile. She operates under the belief that they are fighting with each other, prompting her efforts to resolve the conflict.
