Aired on April 11, 2007

L’s narration of the first twenty-five episodes reveals a hidden record of his detective achievements, which Light deletes upon discovery. The investigation team designates Light as L’s successor and conceals L's death from the public. Light adapts to his inherited status while resuming his activities as Kira. The narrative advances five years to 2012, showing Light, now twenty-three, joining the National Police Agency of Japan. In a flashback to shortly after L's death, an elderly man receives an automatic notification on L's computer regarding L's fate. This man subsequently discloses the information to two children, connecting the past events to the present timeline.
