The US President declares neutrality toward Kira on Sakura TV. A scarred Mello holds SPK agent Halle Lidner hostage to enter Near’s headquarters, demanding a photo to ensure his safety from Kira. Mello reveals shinigami existence and claims some Death Note rules are false. Near, already suspicious of Light, suggests testing the thirteen-day rule, but the team refuses. Light contacts the US President, threatening his life to learn the SPK’s location. Meanwhile, Hitoshi Demegawa travels to America as Kira’s messenger, broadcasting a worldwide message urging people to raid the SPK’s new headquarters.
