Ep. 27: Mello kidnaps NPA director and targets Sayu while Near forms SPK with FBI and US President

Roger Ruvie tells Mello and Near that L has died. Mello leaves the orphanage to hunt Kira with American Mafia support, while Near partners with the US President and FBI agent Steve Mason to create the Special Provision for Kira. Mello abducts the NPA director, demanding the Death Note held by Light’s task force. Light executes the director upon learning of the kidnapping. Mello then targets Light’s sister, Sayu. During the investigation team’s efforts to rescue her, Near calls to reveal he knows about L’s death and that someone tried to replace him.
