Ep. 23: Higuchi Discusses His Predicament With Rem While Driving To Sakura TV
During the drive to Sakura TV, Higuchi confides in Rem regarding his current situation. From the investigation team building, L, Light, and Misa observe him, with L suspecting he is conversing with a shinigami. Rem persuades Higuchi to proceed to the station, driven by her own selfish intentions. Inside the station offices, Higuchi writes Matsuda's fake name in his Death Note. The team initially assumes he is merely writing a note to himself, but his erratic behavior raises suspicions. L deduces that Higuchi has attempted to utilize his killing method. Subsequently, Higuchi makes a deal with Rem to acquire the shinigami eyes. When L realizes Higuchi can kill simply by seeing a face, he orders the police to apprehend him, triggering a furious pursuit.
