Aired on May 30, 2007

Near goes to Japan as bait for Kira, prompting Light to accept the challenge. Near analyzes Light’s strategy, noting the use of shinigami eyes and communication through Takada. Following Light’s orders, Takada requests five Death Note pages from Mikami, who uses a fake notebook for the transfer. On her way to a broadcast, Misa attacks Takada out of jealousy, but Halle Lidner, Near’s bodyguard, intervenes. Takada later meets Misa with Lidner present, concluding Misa is unintelligent. Lidner reports to Near about the romantic tension involving Light, Takada, and Misa. Meanwhile, SPK member Stephen Gevanni confirms Mikami is the new Kira after witnessing him kill someone using a notebook.
