Ep. 8: Light evades detection by using a hidden TV in a chip bag to fake alibi while L narrows suspect list.
Aired on November 22, 2006

L nears the truth about Kira’s identity, prompting him to focus on individuals tracked by the FBI when Raye Penber died, following Misora’s disappearance. He orders surveillance cameras installed in the homes of his primary suspects, including the son of Soichiro Yagami. Light realizes he is under watch and enlists a shinigami to find all hidden cameras in his room. To maintain his cover, he deceives the surveillance team by watching the news on a portable television concealed inside a bag of potato chips. While appearing inactive, he continues to kill criminals featured in the reports, successfully diverting L’s suspicions away from himself.
