During college entrance exams, Light encounters a strange student who introduces himself as Hideki Ryuga, the name of a well-known idol. Light is stunned to recognize this individual as L. Realizing that L’s death immediately after their meeting would raise suspicion, Light opts to befriend him instead. He plans to eliminate L at a later date. His strategy involves getting closer to L to uncover his true identity and monitor police activities, thereby gathering more information while maintaining his cover.
