Ryner battles Luke near the hideout while Ferris intervenes. Lir, who has been tailing Tiir, attacks sleeping refugees. When a refugee dies, Ryner attacks Lir, but Ferris stops him. Lir attempts to force Ryner to activate the Alpha Stigma using a crystallized eye. Ryner resists the overwhelming temptation. Luke joins Ryner, prompting Lir to retreat after Tiir moves the refugees to safety. Luke also departs. Ryner agrees to return to Roland with Ferris, but only on the condition that she kills him if he loses control of the Alpha Stigma. This sequence highlights Ryner's struggle against external manipulation and his internal resolve to maintain his humanity despite the dangerous power he possesses.
