While exploring the Digital World, the DATS team encounters a ghost city inhabited by a Dokugumon nest. The spider Digimon ambushes the group, dragging them underground to the lair of their ruler, MetalPhantomon. This villain traps the team in a realm of nightmares where their deepest fears manifest. During this ordeal, Touma recalls a painful memory concerning his mother. This emotional trigger causes his DNA to awaken, enabling Gaomon to digivolve into its Ultimate form, MachGaogamon.
