Craniamon frees BanchoLeomon to prevent the Digital World from crashing into the Human world. BanchoLeomon stops Masaru from approaching Yggdrasil and reveals that Suguru inhabits the Digimon's body while Yggdrasil controls Suguru's physical form. Suguru explains his past friendship with BanchoLeomon and details Yggdrasil's true intentions resulting from Kurata's actions. To save the Human world, Suguru-BanchoLeomon restrains Yggdrasil and asks Masaru to sacrifice them both. Masaru complies with the request. However, the sacrifice proves futile as Yggdrasil subsequently reappears in his true form, indicating that the previous defeat was not permanent.
