Hyakkimaru defeats Tanosuke Niki, the wielder of the demon sword Nihil, but Dororo retrieves the blade despite warnings. The sword possesses Dororo, compelling him to attack their dog Nota and later slaughter a pack of dogs. Seeking human blood, Dororo assaults an old man and his daughter Osushi at a temple, but Osushi uses a talisman to stop him. A village-wide warning circulates regarding a child killer. Osushi travels to an inn for food, where she encounters her brother, Tanosuke Niki. He has been absent for 5 years after serving as an ashigaru soldier and is solely focused on locating Dororo to reclaim the cursed weapon.
