Gohan thwarts Ginyu’s attempt to steal Piccolo’s body by throwing the frog vessel containing Bulma’s spirit back, restoring her to her original form and trapping Ginyu in the frog. Meanwhile, Goku suffers severe beatings from Frieza. When Frieza tries to drown him, Goku envisions Frieza destroying his loved ones, prompting him to break free and unleash a massive Kamehameha combined with the 20-times Kaio-ken. Frieza counters with his own blast, resulting in a beam struggle that cancels out. The attack fails to injure Frieza significantly and leaves Goku severely weakened. After enduring further punishment, Goku sees a vision of Vegeta and past Saiyans, realizing his failure means the extinction of his race. Motivated, Goku stands ready as an enraged Frieza charges at him.
