Ep. 31: Goku Escapes Vegeta's Galick Gun, Then Transforms Into Great Ape
Aired on December 20, 1989
Goku defeats Vegeta using Kaio-ken x4 after their energy blasts clash, sending the Saiyan Prince into space. Vegeta recovers and seeks to transform into a Great Ape by finding the full moon, but Piccolo has already destroyed it. Believing Goku destroyed the moon to stop him, Vegeta returns to Earth to find Goku exhausted. Vegeta reveals that Blutz Waves from a planet's moon trigger the transformation and creates an artificial moon to replicate this effect. As Goku watches in horror, Vegeta absorbs the waves and begins his transformation. Meanwhile, Krillin and Gohan sense the massive energy surge from the battlefield and decide to return to the scene.
