Nov 1, 1989Piccolo and Krillin attempt to fight Nappa but find him far too powerful. Tien uses his maximum strength to launch an attack aimed at avenging his fallen companion. However, the assault fails to halt Nappa’s rampage. Believing he has failed to stop the enemy, Tien succumbs to his injuries and dies. The Saiyan remains undefeated against their combined efforts, leaving the group in a dire situation as their strongest offensive proves ineffective against the overwhelming strength of their opponent.

Nov 8, 1989With Tien absent, Piccolo, Krillin, and Gohan remain to face the Saiyans, anxiously awaiting Goku's arrival. They inform Vegeta that Goku is significantly stronger than any of them, sparking the Saiyan Prince's desire for a more challenging battle due to his boredom with the weaker Earthlings. Vegeta grants Nappa three hours to wait for Goku. Rather than idle, Nappa flies globally, destroying everything in his path to pass the time. Goku eventually lands on Earth but remains distant from the conflict. Once the three-hour deadline expires, Vegeta orders Nappa to resume the assault against the remaining defenders.

Dec 20, 1989Goku defeats Vegeta using Kaio-ken x4 after their energy blasts clash, sending the Saiyan Prince into space. Vegeta recovers and seeks to transform into a Great Ape by finding the full moon, but Piccolo has already destroyed it. Believing Goku destroyed the moon to stop him, Vegeta returns to Earth to find Goku exhausted. Vegeta reveals that Blutz Waves from a planet's moon trigger the transformation and creates an artificial moon to replicate this effect. As Goku watches in horror, Vegeta absorbs the waves and begins his transformation. Meanwhile, Krillin and Gohan sense the massive energy surge from the battlefield and decide to return to the scene.
