1EP 1Kazuki discovers a parallel world of giant robots and is pulled into its conflict.
Apr 8, 1999Kazuki perceives a parallel dimension where giant robots destroy the city. Mitsuki introduces him to her father, Ken Sanada, a college professor researching high-tech quantum physics in his basement. Ken theorizes a bridge exists between these worlds and tests Kazuki to understand his unique vision. During the experiment, Mitsuki accidentally activates the quantum portal machine, transporting Kazuki to the alternate reality. He initially fails to recognize his location until robots nearly crush him. When the Hartzenen robot collapses during combat, its injured female pilot falls into Kazuki's arms. Forced to intervene, Kazuki must activate the damaged machine and join the battle himself to survive the ongoing war.
2EP 2Kazuki is detained by UN forces after returning to find his world altered and his identity nonexistent.
Apr 15, 1999Kazuki visits an empty store to purchase medicine for an injured pilot, but UN forces capture the pilot, Yayoi, and Hartzenen before he can return. Upon finding Yayoi missing, Kazuki searches the deserted streets as residents gradually return to the city. He proceeds to his home, only to discover his belongings are gone and his parents do not recognize him. Soldiers led by Mitsuki arrest Kazuki and transport him to Headquarters. There, Ken Sanada, the UN leader of the Global Defense Force, explains that Kazuki does not exist in this world. He reveals that Mitsuki is from Kazuki’s original world but arrived a month earlier. This world is at war with the Rara army, commanded by scientist Hiroshi Rara. Mitsuki pilots a core robot, hoping that fighting to end the war quickly will allow Ken Sanada time to open a portal back to their original world.
3EP 3Kazuki becomes the first male pilot for Hartzenen under Akane and Ken's persuasion.
Apr 22, 1999UN Inspector Akane and Ken convince Kazuki to pilot Hartzenen, surprising everyone since only females can operate the robots. Kazuki encounters the alien D and trains to control the machine. During a battle involving Mitsuki and D, Kazuki initially feels terror but overcomes his fear to rescue them when they are in danger. This event marks his transition from a reluctant recruit to a capable pilot who acts decisively to save his allies despite his initial apprehension.
4EP 4Ken designs a female uniform for Kazuki to hide his identity from enemies
Apr 29, 1999In this parallel world, Ken Sanada informs Mitsuki that Kazuki has no residence because he does not exist here. To keep Kazuki hidden from enemies, Akane requests he remain secret, leading Ken to create a female uniform for him. Kazuki initially complies but is mocked by the base staff when introduced, causing him to flee in embarrassment. Akane corners him in a corridor, urging him to accept the disguise. After escaping, Kazuki encounters Yayoi, who returns a jacket he previously gave her while she was injured. Consequently, Kazuki agrees to wear the female suit just once, with Ken promising to produce a male uniform before the next battle.
5EP 5Kazuki faces romantic chaos as Mitsuki deals with D and Yayoi moving in.
May 6, 1999Kazuki attends school while pretending to be Mitsuki Sanada's younger brother. Male students deliver love letters for Mitsuki and attempt to purchase the lunch she prepared for him. Annoyed that Kazuki accepted these letters, Mitsuki forces him to write individual responses. The following day, Mitsuki learns that D is moving in with them. Ken Sanada assigned D to Kazuki's room to improve pilot morale, noting that D responds to Kazuki. Consequently, Mitsuki constructs a wall to separate them. The group handles household chores, but Mitsuki becomes upset when D follows Kazuki's instructions rather than hers. She grows angry when D accidentally discards her diary, though she claims it does not matter. D searches for the diary in the rain while Mitsuki and Kazuki look for her. Upon returning home, Kazuki discovers an additional door in his room. Mitsuki enters, and they realize Yayoi, who lives next door, will now be part of their daily routine.
6EP 6Mitsuki plots to marry Yayoi to a wealthy businessman near a battle zone.
May 13, 1999Mitsuki resents Yayoi for her rising status at home, school, and the base, so she orchestrates a plan to marry Yayoi off. Reika identifies a wealthy businessman interested in the union, but Yayoi protests. Reika persuades her to meet him, citing their families' long friendship. The meeting occurs near a Rara army battle zone. Ken and Akane urge Reika to cancel, but she refuses. Mitsuki guarantees the Rara army will not cross the four mile (6 km) limit. During the battle, Kazuki fights near this boundary. Although Mitsuki attempts to keep enemies away, Kazuki allows them to cross the limit, triggering an evacuation that disrupts the interview, much to Yayoi's relief. The chaos causes Miss Ra to fall from a building, but Kazuki catches the enemy and saves her life.
7EP 7EDF team impresses UN as Rara targets Hartzenen and captures Kazuki
May 20, 1999The EDF and UN officers admire the teamwork of Kazuki, Mitsuki, and D. During combat, the Rara army deploys a powerful Original robot against UN Forces, focusing attacks on Hartzenen to capture the pilot. Facing imminent death, Kazuki triggers a surrender signal, allowing the Rara robot to land within enemy territory with him inside. Despite Ken’s pleas, General Rara refuses to release the pilot. While Mitsuki wishes to rescue Kazuki, Ken forbids it. The robot continues its assault on Hartzenen, causing a terrified Kazuki to lose control and inflict heavy damage on the superior machine. Kazuki survives and wakes up behind enemy lines, where Miss Ra, who resembles Mitsuki, takes charge of his recovery. He observes her shift from a harsh demeanor to a gentle personality. Identified as Mitsuki Rara, she shows interest in Kazuki, who wishes to return to EDF territory to avoid her mother Ayuko, a figure more malevolent than her husband. Ayuko eventually uncovers Kazuki’s true allegiance through footage of him leaving Hartzenen. Despite learning that Kazuki is an EDF Core Robot pilot, Mitsuki assists him in escaping.

The Rara Army launches a direct assault on the EDF headquarters using copies of the Original robot and HIMC, breaching defenses and pushing the defenders to the brink of defeat. Despite Kazuki’s pleas, the brainwashed Miss Ra remains unresponsive. HIMC destroys Hartzenen, prompting a catatonic Kazuki to summon the robot Zinv from its hidden location within the base. Together, Kazuki and Zinv eliminate the invading forces and rescue Miss Ra from HIMC, which subsequently escapes independently.
