UN Inspector Akane and Ken convince Kazuki to pilot Hartzenen, surprising everyone since only females can operate the robots. Kazuki encounters the alien D and trains to control the machine. During a battle involving Mitsuki and D, Kazuki initially feels terror but overcomes his fear to rescue them when they are in danger. This event marks his transition from a reluctant recruit to a capable pilot who acts decisively to save his allies despite his initial apprehension.
