Ep. 5: Celty faces a slasher while Mikado and Masaomi navigate gang threats and personal secrets.

Celty retrieves a package but is attacked by a shadowy slasher who slices her helmet, leaving her wounded and sorrowful. The narrative reviews Seiji’s departure and Anri’s arrival, detailing how Masaomi prevented teacher Takashi Nasujima from molesting her. Anri explains that Mika, who used her to improve her image, disappeared after being rejected by Seiji for stalking. Mikado and Masaomi decide the police should handle the case. Masaomi reflects on his growth since Mikado arrived in Ikebukuro and resolves to protect him from the district’s darkness. Rumors circulate about the Yellow Scarves defeating the Blue Squares. Mikado witnesses Seiji with a redhead, realizing their elopement. Later, Masaomi attempts to rescue Mikado from perceived danger but is cornered by the Yellow Scarves. Mikado intervenes, leading to both boys being trapped. Celty’s attacker redirects his assault toward the gang, allowing the boys to escape. Izaya visits a pale girl in a hospital, who shows him a photo of herself with Masaomi. Masaomi ultimately accepts his position in a love triangle involving Mikado and Anri.
