Uruu reflects on his mother's suicide while bonding with Birika Kanda, a high school art student who suspects her politician father is being cheated on. Birika discovers her mother's lover does not reciprocate her feelings and makes unwanted advances. Uruu enters a realm based on Water Lilies, witnessing a projection of his mother protecting Homura's father from the lover's attacks and forcing him to endure the heat she felt. Homura rescues Uruu, enabling him to defeat the lover. Uruu later learns Birika's mother committed suicide after realizing her lover's true feelings. Having understood the truth behind his mother's death, Uruu informs Homura that she did not regret her affair.
