Meanwhile, Irene discovers Wendy’s immunity to dragonification and enchants her consciousness into Wendy’s body. Wendy counters by using her own enchantment to swap bodies with Irene, reversing the spell, but cannot continue fighting after Irene injures her body during the exchange. Enraged, Irene takes dragon form, breaks Erza’s bones to immobilize her, and summons a meteor to kill everyone on the battlefield. Erza uses her uninjured right arm to magically launch herself into the sky and destroy the meteor, leaving Irene in disbelief.

Flashbacks reveal that Mavis’s son was abandoned by Precht while Mavis was in stasis. Raised with knowledge of his parents, the boy meets Zeref, who recognizes his resemblance to Mavis. Zeref names him after a month of cherished time with her, revealing the boy is August.

As Natsu’s injury causes the book’s letters to disappear, Lucy heals him by rewriting the missing letters, stopping Zeref from entering the door. However, a malevolent force from within the book begins to overtake Lucy’s body.

One year later, Fairy Tail attends an award ceremony for a novel Lucy published about her guild experiences. Lucy reflects on how her friends' lives have changed since the war. During the event, the group notices two strangers resembling Mavis and Zeref who befriend each other. The following morning, Natsu and Happy invite Lucy on a job, prompting her to tearfully thank them for their influence on her life. Natsu downplays her gratitude but promises they will remain together. The trio then joins their team to start the guild's 100 Years Quest.
