Ep. 27: Tamahome confronts Suboshi over his family's death and regains composure to continue the journey.

Before dying, Yuiren speaks to Tamahome, asking him to stay by her side. Suboshi, Amiboshi's brother, reveals he killed Tamahome's family, triggering an enraged attack. Tamahome's power, boosted by Taiitsukun's gift, overwhelms Suboshi until Soi intervenes. Nuriko pleads for Tamahome to stop, fearing his body cannot sustain the power and that he is frightening Miaka. After calming down, Tamahome finds Chuei dead with a kitchen knife and buries his family with gifts. He asks for solitude, leaving Nuriko concerned about his emotional state for the trip to Hokkan. Tamahome later surprises them with a cheerful demeanor, returning to the ship. He gives Miaka a bridal gift from Yuiren. Hotohori entrusts his sword to Miaka for the journey. Both Tamahome and Miaka resolve to protect their loved ones and secure the Shinzaho before Seiryu.
