Ep. 31: The group splits up to find the Shinzaho while Nuriko cuts his hair and Ashitare attacks Miaka.

The group finds lodging where an elder reveals the Shinzaho of the Priestess of Genbu was protected by the Genbu Seven 200 years ago. They decide to separate to locate the artifact quickly. Miaka vows to abandon her old world for Tamahome after summoning Suzaku. Inside a bar, Nuriko cuts his hair to better protect Miaka, claiming he is now a man with a woman's heart. Tamahome, Miaka, and Nuriko remain together while others travel separately. Tamahome follows a man whose father is a scholar and reads ancient writing. The scholar states the Shinzaho is in Mt. Koku, where the Priestess of Genbu first appeared. Tamahome meets Yui in Hokkan, who recently separated from Suboshi. Meanwhile, Nakago sends Ashitare, a Seiryu warrior replacing Soi, to kill the Priestess. Ashitare locates and attacks Miaka and Nuriko.
