Ep. 2: Mayo is deceived by a false Suzaku while the group encounters Chousei and Shouka

A deceptive Suzaku tricks Mayo into believing Taka and others intend to harm Miaka and her unborn child. Meanwhile, Taka, Chichiri, and Taisuki locate Chiriko, now an infant named Gakurei, who retains memories of his past life but chooses to remain behind to address the world's decline. He provides three horses to aid their journey, but Taka soon falls ill and collapses. They meet Shouka, who offers water, and Chousei, who is revealed to be Mitsukake. Although Chousei initially refuses to join them, Shouka persuades him to leave, only for her to be attacked by strange birds. The group returns to find Shouka near death and Chousei possessed by a false Byakko. Once freed, Chousei regains his Mitsukake powers and heals both Shouka and Taka.
