In Part A, Tetsuko departs the Yorozuya to find rare metal for her shop. Two separate groups arrive requesting repairs for their ultimate swords to use in combat against one another. The Yorozuya members intervene, but their assistance inevitably exacerbates the situation. In Part B, Tama forms a bond with an elderly cigarette vending machine nearing the end of its operational life. Despite the original owner abandoning the unit and the machine physically deteriorating, Tama makes earnest efforts to provide companionship and support to the failing appliance.
