The Odd Jobs gang travels to the mountains to hunt for matsutake mushrooms. Gintoki is cheerful, but a hunter named Marinosuke warns him that the area is dangerous and urges him to leave. Ignoring the warning, the group continues their search. A giant bear named Masamune, controlled by a space mushroom, attacks them. Marinosuke helps Gintoki and the others escape the beast. They later attempt to fight Masamune to claim a reward. However, a mushroom identical to the one controlling the bear begins growing from Gintoki's head, creating a new threat for the group.
