Feudal Japan has become a chaotic place after an alien invasion leads to widespread occupation. While some benefits like improved healthcare have emerged, the outlawing of swords has left many samurai struggling to find new roles. One such individual is Gintoki Sakata, who avoids traditional employment and instead takes on freelance work for payment. However, in a world now populated by alien creatures, ambitious Yakuza, and enterprising extraterrestrials, these jobs often bring more hardship than reward. Gintoki and others like him must navigate this bizarre new reality, where the work is dangerous and the pay is rarely worth the effort.
