Loran Cehack, Keith Laije, and Fran Doll, agents of the Moonrace, travel to Earth aboard a FLAT mobile suit and land in North Ameria. While exploring alone, Loran nearly drowns in a river but is rescued by Kihel and Sochie Heim, daughters of a local mine owner. Two years later, Loran works as a driver for the Heim family and encounters politician Guin Sard Rhineford, who is strengthening local military forces. Loran is reunited with Keith and Fran, who are now working as a baker and a freelance reporter, respectively. Concerned that the FLAT might be discovered, Loran sneaks out at night to check on it, with Sochie following him.
