Itou attempts to fracture the Shinsengumi after discovering Sannan is alive. Chizuru conceals her ability to heal quickly from an ochimizu-maddened soldier. Sen-hime and her kunoichi Kimigiku arrive at the Shinsengumi headquarters to take Chizuru to safety. Sen-hime claims descent from an ancient oni bloodline and forces Chizuru to admit her own oni status. The Rasetsu Squad activates when Kazama tries to kidnap Chizuru again. Hijikata fights Kazama to protect her. Kazama disarms Hijikata, but Chizuru jumps in front of him with her sword to save him. Kazama departs, revealing Chizuru’s love for Hijikata.
