Ep. 8: Hayate returns a kitten to Nagi, leading to jealousy and a plan to win its affection.
Aired on May 23, 2009

Mrs. Katsura advises Hayate to thank Hinagiku for hosting him by providing a birthday gift on March 3. Hayate brings a kitten to the mansion because Hinagiku’s mother is allergic, prompting Nagi to adopt and name it Shiranui. Tama becomes jealous and attempts to frame Shiranui for damaging Nagi’s manga, but the scheme fails when Shiranui actually tears the book, resulting in Tama being blamed and caged. Isumi visits to play with the kitten but is rejected, causing her distress. Sakuya suggests Isumi change from her traditional attire into casual clothes. With Hayate’s help, Isumi applies diluted catnip to her clothing to attract the kitten. This strategy succeeds, allowing Nagi, Isumi, and even Tama to play with Shiranui together.
