Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio proceed through the examination, reaching a secluded cabin in the woods. A couple claims to have been attacked by beasts, but a creature subsequently abducts the wife. Leorio remains behind to assist the husband with his injuries, while Gon and Kurapika rescue the wife. It is revealed that the couple and the beasts are actually a single family testing the candidates. They determine that the trio is worthy of advancing to the next stage of the Hunter Exam. This event occurs on 5/31 within the Hunter Exam arc.
