The northern wolf youkai tribe faces an assault from Kyokotsu, the first member of the Band of Seven. Kohaku is revealed to have resurrected Kyokotsu using a shard of the Shikon Jewel and orders him to locate additional pieces. Kyokotsu encounters Koga, who has returned to protect the eastern wolf yōkai tribe. This meeting provides Kyokotsu with an opportunity to pursue his mission. During the confrontation, Koga successfully removes the Shikon Jewel shard from Kyokotsu's forehead, ending the immediate threat posed by the resurrected demon to the wolf tribe.
