The battle between Inuyasha and Jakotsu concludes suddenly when Mukotsu deploys a stinging poison. He subsequently paralyzes Kagome to obtain her Shikon Jewel shards. While Shippo rescues Inuyasha from Jakotsu, Mukotsu intoxicates Miroku and Sango. Sesshomaru, who is immune to the toxin, arrives and slices Mukotsu in half to retrieve the jewel shard from his throat. Inuyasha and Shippo then arrive to transport the poisoned Kagome, Miroku, and Sango to safety.
