Kagura summons the dark priestess Tsubaki before Naraku, who provides a fragment of the Shikon Jewel in exchange for her services. Tsubaki utilizes her snakelike demon puppet, Shikigami, to curse Kagome. As her shards of the Shikon Jewel become tainted black and merge within her body, Kagome falls under Tsubaki's hypnosis. Although she is commanded to kill Inuyasha, Kagome struggles to resist the order and attempts to fight against the control imposed upon her by the dark priestess.
