Shippo receives a challenge letter from Soten, the sole survivor of the thunder yōkai tribe. He is subsequently captured by her, causing him distress. Meanwhile, Miroku and Sango fall into a trap orchestrated by Koryu, Soten’s dragon yōkai partner. This scheme backfires when Inuyasha and Kagome prove to be a vulnerability for Koryu. Shippo eventually engages Soten in a duel using crayons as the prize. After Shippo presents the crayons to her, Soten develops romantic feelings for him.
