Inuyasha visits Totosai seeking a way to break barriers. Totosai tasks him with helping Bunza, a young lynx youkai messenger, fetch water and chop firewood. Together, they discover Bunza's father trapped by Nanafushi, a mantis demon destroying the lynx yōkai village. The pair works to save him from the barrier.
