Inuyasha and Kagome encounter a young samurai named Amari Nobunaga, who guides them to a castle where a vengeful toad youkai has possessed the reigning prince. As night falls, the trio infiltrates the fortress to rescue the captivated Princess Tsuyu. The toad youkai prince, who harbors a shard of the Shikon Jewel, attacks them and transports Tsuyu to a chamber filled with the souls of women. The others arrive shortly after and successfully free Tsuyu from her captivity. Inuyasha and Kagome then confront the toad youkai, defeat it, and retrieve its shard of the Shikon Jewel.
